Under Springdale, Julia Redmon

Friend of Spring Creek •

Under Springdale (2026) (not for sale) I sat down with my neighbor Kenny Rea, a resident of NWA for over 60 years. He shared this story with me, standing around his kitchen island. Written here with his permission. Julia Redmon Bella Vista, Arkansas Written Word What is Spring Creek to you? Spring Creek to Kenny, is above ground! Thank goodness!

Taught Me How to Run, Philip Sambol

Taught Me How to Run (2026) $5,000.00 I sat by the water with my guitar until my conscious desire and self awareness where washed away, then this song came all at once and fully formed down the stream. Philip Sambol Fayetteville, Arkansas Performance / Movement What is Spring Creek to you? Walking lightly so the birds aren’t bothered and the deer can hear Listen quietly so the sounds aren’t smothered I can see them so bright and so clear Feel completely, if not complete so empty and so near Lost and never found cutting tracks across ground You’re gone before we know you’re even here. https://soundcloud.com/peace-amble https://www.instagram.com/peaceamble/

Solace at Spring Creek, Tiffany L. Yang

Friend of Spring Creek •

Solace at Spring Creek (2026) $485.00 Made from secondhand fabrics and discarded clothing, this hand-stiched quilt represents the gift of comfort and relief I found at Spring Creek during a challenging season of life. On a cold, gloomy day, my partner and I bundled up our little one and brought him to Thunder Chicken Trailhead. We watched as he explored the creek in wonder –  choosing pebbles from the bank, lobbing them into the air, and watching them splash into the water. The creek provided the backdrop for us to create a little moment of joy and was a soothing balm for our spirits. Tiffany L. Yang Rogers, Arkansas Textile & Fiber Art What is Spring Creek to you? Spring Creek represents what I love about living in northwest Arkansas – the proximity and accessibility of the outdoors. It’s a sweet reminder that whenever life feels overwhelming, I can always turn to nature for respite. https://www.instagram.com/tiffanylyang/

Intersection, Ashley Uskert

Friend of Spring Creek •

Intersection (2026) $365.00 Getting curious about what’s around the places we frequently visit is a key detail in maintaining a thriving community. Through this photograph I explored what’s near the creek that contributes to the wellbeing on the water. There are multiple factories within miles from the creek and one right next to it seen in the photograph. This observation sparks questions about watershed point source and non-point source pollutants. Point source pollution contaminants enter a body of water from a single identifiable source including wastewater treatment plants and factories. Non-point source pollution impacts watersheds by contaminants from multiple different sources including streets, suburban development, rural homes, cropland and animal feedlots. Our daily lives impact creeks which then impact the rivers they flow into, leading into the water we drink and the water animals live in. Spring Creek connects with Osage Creek and flows into the Illinois River. Understanding what’s around the places we love and cherish benefits not only a community, but an ecosystem. Ashley Uskert Bentonville, Arkansas Photography What is Spring Creek to you? Spring Creek to me is a place to slow down and reconnect to oneself. Walking alongside the creek allows one to step back from the fast paced world and go inwards. I’ve noticed that creeks bring out a child like play in every person that sits, splashes, or walks beside them. I believe this occurrence happens due to the memory water retains. Each person that steps into the water releases what’s no longer serving them, allowing the water to cleanse them. Lake View, Ashley Uskert

Friend of Spring Creek •

Lake View (2026) $365.00 Of great excellence and beauty, sublime. People often think that sublime is categorized as their vacation spots. The lands that look otherworldly, the unknown, the vast landscape with rolling hills. Yet, this word so often used was felt about these lands when it was first walked upon. It’s still so, even in the simplest of places. Beauty isn’t subjected to the unknown lands, but flowers sprouted in precarious areas, the creek flowing against limestone and the prairie that defines our home. My artistic practice has stemmed from this idea of the seemingly mundane being sublime and stepping into the role of the observer. Using this role of the observer in my art has allowed me to participate in the patience and slowness of analog photography. The time consuming and hands-on process allows me to appreciate what I am seeing and not merely click the shutter multiple times until I get the right shot. There’s thoughtfulness in the practice that lends towards the connection between observer and subject. Ashley Uskert Bentonville, Arkansas Photography What is Spring Creek to you? Beyond the Bend, Leslie Coston

Friend of Spring Creek •

Beyond the Bend (2026) $305.00 This painting was inspired by a view of Spring Creek from the 112 bridge near Elm Springs, while traveling between Fayetteville and Bentonville. At this spot, I found myself thinking beyond what is immediately visible and wondering: What’s just around the bend? What’s on the other side of the hill? What’s across the field? Those questions carry over into my studio and became part of the way I approach painting. I wanted to create a sense of passage through the landscape—a feeling of moving into and through a place even as the viewer is physically still. I’m interested in the way one field softens and slips into another and how a landscape can become an experience of movement. I allow colors and lines to flow, overlap, and change direction, following the rhythms I see in water, land, and light. Geometry gives those movements structure, while color creates energy. The paths and shifting fields invite the viewer forward, toward what might be just beyond the next turn. Leslie Coston Fayetteville, Arkansas Painting What is Spring Creek to you? For the past four years, I’ve been driving frequently from Fayetteville to Bentonville on Highway 112 to visit my dad. One of my favorite parts of the journey has been crossing Spring Creek just outside of Elm Springs. Over the years, I’ve watched the creek and surrounding landscape through multiple seasons and weather conditions. Spring Creek is always a highlight for that trip and I will forever associate it with visiting my dad. https://lesliecoston.com https://www.instagram.com/lcoston_studio/

The Wader, Kyle Cook

Friend of Spring Creek •

The Wader (2025) $200.00 I grew up in southwest Missouri at the confluence of the James and Finley rivers. Much of my childhood was spent swimming in the river, fishing , and canoeing. While I love to think that it is pure instinct or my love for the small waterways of the Ozark’s is innate, I think much of my love comes from watching and having so many memories of my friends and family by the water. This is what this piece is about for me. Much like the heron I have so many memories of wading in the water and experiencing the world through a lens of wonder. Who knows how many rocks I’ve flipped looking for crawdads or how many fish I have caught from the rivers? While I do not live in the water, I cannot imagine what my life would be like without the rivers and creeks that have wound their way through my memories. Kyle Cook Farmington, Arkansas Drawing & Illustration What is Spring Creek to you? Spring Creek, is a summation of my love for the Ozark’s creeks and rivers. While it still retains its more rural areas, it is a creek that a suburban area can access and enjoy freely. In an area and time where many of life’s pleasures are locked behind paywalls, Spring Creek is something that everyone can love. To me Spring Creek is a thread that equalizes and connects so much of NWA. When I see people enjoying the creek I am reminded of how simple life can be and our connection to nature. https://themookpress.com https://www.instagram.com/themookpress/

Environmental Restitution, Julia Redmon

Friend of Spring Creek •

Environmental Restitution (2026) $10,005.00 Earth, air, fire, and creek: represented here not as subject matter, but as equals in the room. For too long we’ve treated the natural world as a backdrop; something to extract from, build on, and take for granted, instead of something to learn from, to commune with. This piece asks us to become students again: to listen to what the land, creek, and air have always been telling us, and to reconnect with a guidance we’ve forgotten how to follow. These four boxes hold what was taken and what remains: rocks from the bed of Spring Creek; water from its current; a box left open to air; and a mark left by fire. What is owed here has no honest price. To pay this price is not to settle a debt, it is to acknowledge one. Julia Redmon Bella Vista, Arkansas Mixed Media & Collage, Natural Materials / Found Objects What is Spring Creek to you? Water is the element that reaches out. It’s the one that beckons us to listen: the pitter-patter of rain on leaves, the trickle of a stream over stones, the meditative pull of a fountain in a garden. There’s a particular kind of relief in it too, the refreshment of stepping into a cold spring on a hot day, the way it wakes up your whole body at once. I see water, Spring Creek, as the outstretched hand for re-connection, one of the most accessible entry points to commune with the natural world. https://www.instagram.com/juliaofthevalley/

Watershed, Laura Terry

Friend of Spring Creek •

Watershed (2026) $1,000.00 A watershed is an area of ridge of land that separates waters flowing to different rivers or basins or an area or region drained by a river or river system. Spring Creek drains to the Illinois River which winds its way through our region. Like circulatory systems in our bodies, creeks, streams, and rivers are vital to the health of our shared landscape. Cutting and piecing paper into a “paper quilt” is analogous to the idea that landscapes are made of individual elements each with their own role in the narrative. This piece, “Watershed,” honors the relationship between the rolling Ozark hills, the stillness found in shallow waters, and the sky above. Laura Terry West Fork, Arkansas Mixed Media & Collage What is Spring Creek to you? Water is sacred. The sound of running water is healing. Dipping toes in conjures childhood memories and delight. Finding shadows and ripples. Schools of fish. Leaves floating downstream. Cairns. https://www.orangeboxart.com https://www.instagram.com/orangeboxart
