It made me think of the city of Springdale and the people that call it home. Shared Belonging is a reminder that the people I pass along The Greenway or sit next to in the park may not all share the same experiences, beliefs, or needs but they do share the same belonging. It is the memory and reaction to the contemporary landscape conflicting with the natural environment. Like music on the subconscious, the creek flows and sculpts the land forming its own history while the present shortsightedness creates its destiny. lucky (2026) (not for sale) I was inspired by the thought of the creek being an active participant in the making of this piece. I spent time by the water taking in the surrounding wildlife and foliage. Using the sun on the banks of the creek, some clover nearby and the water flowing from the pump station into spring creek this cyanotype print came to life. The process allowed the creek, sunlight, and surrounding landscape to become part of the work itself, rather than simply being subjects I was observing. Ozark Technicolor I (2026) $400.00 Ozark Technicolor reimagines the hills of the land I live on and paint from daily, in saturated pink, chartreuse, and gold. Water runs through the entire Ozarks like a nervous system — creeks and trails threading through cities, open space, and everything between, connecting places that might otherwise feel separate. Spring Creek, and the trail that follows it from Springdale’s urban heart out into open, tree-marked country, is part of that same continuous system. My work isn’t about rendering what the land looks like, but what it feels like to move through it: how psyche and place are tangled together, each shaping the other. The heightened, kid-core palette is my way of being honest about that feeling; a little more vivid, a little more alive than a photograph would allow. This piece is an invitation to see the Ozarks, and the water that stitches it together, not as scenery but as something we’re all, quietly, made of. Solace at Spring Creek (2026) $485.00 Made from secondhand fabrics and discarded clothing, this hand-stiched quilt represents the gift of comfort and relief I found at Spring Creek during a challenging season of life. On a cold, gloomy day, my partner and I bundled up our little one and brought him to Thunder Chicken Trailhead. We watched as he explored the creek in wonder –  choosing pebbles from the bank, lobbing them into the air, and watching them splash into the water. Intersection (2026) $365.00 Getting curious about what’s around the places we frequently visit is a key detail in maintaining a thriving community. Through this photograph I explored what’s near the creek that contributes to the wellbeing on the water. There are multiple factories within miles from the creek and one right next to it seen in the photograph. This observation sparks questions about watershed point source and non-point source pollutants. Point source pollution contaminants enter a body of water from a single identifiable source including wastewater treatment plants and factories. Non-point source pollution impacts watersheds by contaminants from multiple different sources including streets, suburban development, rural homes, cropland and animal feedlots. Our daily lives impact creeks which then impact the rivers they flow into, leading into the water we drink and the water animals live in. Spring Creek connects with Osage Creek and flows into the Illinois River. Understanding what’s around the places we love and cherish benefits not only a community, but an ecosystem.
