I was inspired by the thought of the creek being an active participant in the making of this piece. I spent time by the water taking in the surrounding wildlife and foliage. Using the sun on the banks of the creek, some flowers nearby and the water flowing from the pump station into spring creek this cyanotype print came to life. The process allowed the creek, sunlight, and surrounding landscape to become part of the work itself, rather than simply being subjects I was observing. For me, the piece is a reflection of spending time with Spring Creek and allowing the place to shape the work in its own way.

What is Spring Creek to you?
Spring Creek has become a place of relaxation and community connection. The creek flows through our whole city and is connected to time with my family watching planes land and take off at the airport, watching the Rodeo of the Ozarks parade downtown along the creek, walking the greenway while strolling my newborn baby, to time on Sunday afternoons letting the water wash away the summer heat.
