I am incredibly grateful for our local waterways. Being immersed in nature, especially the water, has been particularly impactful during a season of solo exploration and reconnection to self that I find myself in. The reference photo for this piece was taken in early summer of this year. I had taken myself on an artist date with the sole intention of experiencing the sunset, which is how I found myself with the water flowing around my ankles and the sunlight reflecting up at me. Although I didn’t know at the time that the water I was standing in was named Spring Creek, I definitely knew that we were friends. I wanted to capture a feeling of peaceful resilience with this painting. It was made using acrylic paint on a 12″ x 16″ stretched canvas.
